Microsoft wants to take on OpenAI? Microsoft has developed its own AI models, known as MAI. These models are being tested for use in products like Copilot, which assists with tasks such as answering user queries and offering suggestions.
Additionally, Microsoft is working on reasoning models designed for more complex problem-solving. While the company continues its partnership with OpenAI, the development of its own models, along with models from other sources, allows Microsoft to reduce its reliance on OpenAI.
Microsoft is positioning itself as a major AI player and it does not want to depend on OpenAI for everything.

Nvidia has released a new hotfix driver (version 572.65) to fix issues with black screens. If you're using a DisplayPort connection between your PC and monitor, you may have experienced a black screen when booting up.
This new update addresses that issue, though Nvidia hasn't specified which GeForce cards are affected. The fix follows an earlier DisplayPort bugfix related to audio issues. To get this hotfix, you'll need to manually download it from Nvidia’s official website as it's not available through the Nvidia app or Driver Search.
For reference, the previous GameReady driver (572.60) addressed several other bugs, including stuttering.

All Copilot users get free and unlimited access to Think Deeper and Copilot Voice, which were previously available only to premium users.
Think Deeper uses the o1 reasoning model, providing detailed, thoughtful responses to complex queries like coding, math, and in-depth planning. It takes around 30 seconds to process, but it's available for free, unlike the paid ChatGPT Pro offering.
Copilot Voice, available with four voices, offers interactive, multi-turn conversations, and is available across Copilot platforms like the app, standalone site, and Windows. Could this give users another reason to use Copilot? Maybe.

Nvidia's new Game Ready driver 572.47 (WHQL) now officially supports the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. It also fixes a stability issue that occurred when the monitor woke up from a long sleep.
However, there are still some known issues. The GPU activity icon setting requires a restart to take effect, and VRay 6 experiences low performance on Blackwell GPUs in CUDA Vpath tests.
Other reported issues include texture corruption in Adobe Substance 3D Painter when using GPU ray tracing, stuttering in SteamVR apps on GeForce RTX 50 series, image errors in Vulkan/DirectX apps, and audio problems with DisplayPort 1.4 at high refresh rates.

PowerShell is integrated into Windows 11 and other versions, but it's also maintained on Github under github.com/powershell as an open-source work.
As a result, it's frequently updated, and today's release is PowerShell 7.6.0 Preview 3, which includes a fix for the GetHelpCommand source, where an extra space caused issues with displaying names unless in quotes.
Other improvements include better handling of single and double quotes for the -Noun parameter in Get-Command, stringifying ErrorRecord with empty exception messages, and improved support for the -PSEdition parameter in Get-Module.

You can also enable battery percentage display next to the icon by going to Settings > Power & Battery and turning on the “Battery Percentage” option.

Hello there, Copilot+ PC users! Windows is now making it easier to find your photos saved in the cloud with an improved search experience.
Now, when you type descriptive terms like “European castles” or “summer picnics” in the search box on the taskbar, photos from both your Copilot+ PC and the cloud will appear in the results.
If you're signed into OneDrive with a personal Microsoft account, photos stored in the cloud will show up alongside local files. For work or school accounts, you'll only see keyword matches within the text of cloud files, not photos.
This is limited to Windows Insiders for now, but coming soon to all Copilot+ PCs.
